“A Miracle…his feeling towards the Romantic period composers are brought to life in his album from EMI…hearing each time his performance, I get a different feeling.  His musicality and spirit contain a ‘melancholic freedom’ which brings us back to the past…”

In his collaboration with maestro Jun Markl at the Royal Concertgebouw Hall, Trey received critical acclaim as The North Holland Daily (Het Noordhollands Dagblad) hailed him "a Star Musician..... As a soloist, Lee is imposing and extremely impressive, who makes use of the entire expressive range of his part and conveys an eloquent continuous dialogue with the music and the orchestra.”

Recordings - Collaborating with EMI, Trey’s latest album [Schumann, Mendelssohn, Chopin] topped the classical charts and was enthusiastically received by audiences and critics, as exemplified by GRAMOPHONE which declares Trey “a miracle....his musicality and spirit contain a 'melancholic freedom' which brings us back to the past..."”. His debut album with EMI again spent weeks as a bestseller on the classical charts with STRAD hailing him to be “...a versatile cellist with the technical facility to tackle virtuoso repertory nimbly…[while he] plays with a beautifully lyrical tone.” In addition, Trey can be heard as featured soloist on the original sound track recording for the German-Taiwan-Hong Kong co-produced film “The Drummer”, also released by EMI.

Working with Contemporary Composers - As a versatile musician, Trey has received special recognition for his interpretation of contemporary work. Finland’s Helsingin Sanomat praised him as someone who has ‘got great talent of understanding the language of modern music, it’s gestures and meanings’ in his bold interpretation of the Penderecki Concerto and Lutoslawski Concerto. In his 2005 Hong Kong premiere of renowned composer Bright Sheng’s “Spring Dream” Cello Concerto, Trey received high praise from Bright Sheng and was immediately invited by the composer for more potential cooperation.
